Saw Steve Jobs's keynote at Apple Store New York today. Panther looks to have some pretty cool features, although few of them in any way revolutionary. The instant search thing is something with an obvious relation to BeOS, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it wasn't thanks to Dominic Giampaolo, who developed the BeOS filesystem and has been at Apple for a while.

Update: Hannibal over at Ars Technica has an overview of everything announced.

Expose, or however it's supposed to be spelled, in probably the most useful new feature. Again, something that I've wanted to see for a long time after learning about a similar system in a research X11 window manager, the name of which escapes me for now, quite a few years ago.

The new PowerMacs certainly look to be really cool, but I can't help but be disappointed that there was no PowerBook announcement. I fear the PowerMac prices won't be quite as great in Europe as they are promised to be here (although I do think it was a bit disingenious to compare "the best PC money can buy" to a computer that won't be available for the next two months.. Sure, the Dell the comparison was against may not be below $3000 by then, but it certainly won't be above $4000 either).
